Night During Day

You may have noticed that I haven’t been blogging much recently - mainly since my “redesign”. Whilst writing this entry, I decided that I hated it, so now you have this re”design”. I think it’s better than the council house wallpaper one. This is basically my (new, unmentioned) derelicte design, just Daz-ified.

I digress, my Google “Daz” position has dropped (to 9!) and I’ve bought a ton of new camera goodies over the Christmas period (so long ago!). This means I have stuff to write about again - yey! Sure, I could write about IE8 Meta shenanigans or something, but I’d just be repeating what a billion other blogs have written. And to be honest, that all bores me.

So from now on, I think I’m going to concentrate on writing about stuff I really like - aka photography stuff - my equipment, techniques, outings, random photowhoring etc.

I’ll start off with a technique I’ve been toying with recently. This isn’t the largest entry ever, but hopefully it’ll help me get back in the swing of things.

This has been one of my most popular photos in recent weeks…

314 ~ night @ lunchtime (by Daz.)

This one is similar, but not quite as popular.

317 ~ (by Daz.)

They both look like they were taken during the night. Far from it — both were taken at around 1pm in the day.

Really simple

The technique here is really simple - all it needs is a really fast shutter speed and/or a really small aperture. Oh, and it works best with a *really* blue sky/bright day.

I used the small aperture variant - because of some shenanigans with how lenses work, it gives the sun a nice star-ish effect.

And that’s about it (told you it was short). It took me a fair bit of playing around with settings to get the cool effect, but was well worth it :)

Nice to see you back Daz!

Yeah that meta tag stuff is a bit crap… I haven’t had the energy to blog since I did mine. I am going to have to blog about my increasingly worrying Guitar Hero problem next.

More photo stuff would be nice. I’m investing in some new kit next few weeks, so any tips would be warmly received!

You’ve probably dropped in rank because you haven’t been blogging, and therefore you should blog more!

Your tweet said this was new. I got all excited… then there’s this post what I have already commented on.

Pop went my bubble of excitement. You see I lead such an exciting life!

Yeh, I was editting the article because the images had disappeared, and my Twitter plugin decided it was new so Tweeted about it! Stupid plugin (=disabled now). Sorry for any unneccesary cause of excitement! :)
